Enola is a fantastic hairdresser - she really listens to what you want and consults you along the way to check it's what you want. She absolutely gets it right every time! Plus it's always easy to book an appointment here for the time you want, and all round great customer service

Last Saturday I went to Kinki Kappers to get my roots touched up. I had previously had my hair coloured for the first time ever at their salon also about 8 weeks previous. The "stylist" I was met with had informed me the girl who had previously done my hair hadn't recorded any of the colours she had used (after she saying she would). The lady spoke to the previous "stylist" and also to her manager and came up with the colour you see in the photos. I was quoted 150 euro for a root touch up which didn't include a hair cut, when asked why this price I was told this is half what I paid originally (the first time I had extremly long thick hair which required a lot of colour and I also had it cut and bought products). She then applied the colour and it was meant to stay for 35 minutes, it was much after this when the owners 13 year old daughter came to me to wash out my hair. She washed out my hair perfectly fine and applied the hair treatment, she then sent me back to my hair with my hair unwrapped, I had streaks of colour rolling down my face and neck at this point as my hair was very wet. The same girl washed out my treatment and also diffused my hair. The original "stylist" came back and asked if I was happy. I raised concerns about the colour there and then, she then said its not fully dry and the results will be better later. Safe to say the results are shocking. I emailed photos and asked if we could do something to fix this and had nothing but radio silence in return. Avoid this place, overpriced and beyond unprofessional.

The hairdresser was nice and talkative. However, i paid €300 to get my hair dyed fully purple and after a few washes (with olaplex they recommended) it’s now green, blue, brown, grey and barely purple anymore. I called and they do not want to do anything about it, no partial refund, no re-dye, only a free bottle of colouring as if it’ll turn back to purple at this point. Very sad they ruined my hair for so much money.

The details of my experience today at Kinki Hairdressers Leiden are outlined below. Upon entering the studio, I approached the service desk, where there were male and female employees. I asked specifically for the stylist who specializes in cutting Afro hair, and as I was informed, he would be available this week. I asserted that I had an appointment scheduled at 2.10 pm and was aware that I was late. I was late because of the train delay as I traveled from Breda, a different city, to the studio in Leiden. I scheduled my appointment at the Leiden studio because of my recent move to the area. I asked if the stylist was still in the studio and available and if I could get a spot with him. The male employee interrupted me, saying he was the stylist, and stated that he had already attended his 2:10 appointment. I politely reminded the male stylist that I had a confirmed appointment scheduled for 2:10 and even offered to show him proof of the confirmation. To ensure that I had the necessary documentation, I took the opportunity to charge my phone, which was running low on battery. The male stylist pointed to a spot for me to do so. Once my phone was charged, I promptly checked my email for the confirmation email and gestured to the employees at the service desk to come and look at it. At that moment, the male stylist, who had previously identified himself, approached me. I showed him the email as proof of my appointment, to which he responded with a surprising and unwarranted comment. He stated that he did not like my mood and that I came off as angry, asking me to change my mood. His words and his unprofessionalism took me aback. Instead of addressing my concerns, he seemed more fixated on the tone of my voice. I asked him if he was stereotyping me as an angry black person because of how I sounded or perhaps he didn't want to attend to me. I also asked if my initial inquiry was impolite. He said I hadn't been rude, but I couldn't understand why he assumed I was angry when I wasn't. He stated that color wasn't necessary, that he doesn't differentiate people based on skin color, and that he has a diverse group of friends, family, and acquaintances of African descent. I politely expressed that I didn't see the relevance of discussing his personal life and relationships at the moment. My main objective was to ascertain whether I could proceed with my scheduled haircut appointment or if it would be necessary to reschedule. Rather than attentively hearing me out, he instead chose to exaggerate my words and actions, painting me as irate and implying that I should adjust my demeanor. When I inquired whether I should have entered with a dance or a grin, he failed to acknowledge my discomfort or provide an answer. I subsequently broached the possibility of rescheduling or continuing with the haircut, but he requested that we speak outside and stated he wouldn't attend to me. As I walked back home, I pondered the possibility of the stylist treating me differently if I were a white woman. I believe the answer to that hypothetical scenario would be a resounding "yes." I believe the stylist would have been much more polite and customer service-oriented and would have likely asked me to reschedule my appointment had I been a white woman instead of a person of color. The employee didn't acknowledge my appointment, focusing instead on my mood and denying any personal bias by saying they didn't see color. Utterances like this raise concerns about discrimination. I also observed that only one hair stylist at Kinki Hairdressers Leiden is skilled in cutting Afro hair, while other hair types have more options. It was unjust to be labeled as an angry black individual for such an innocent inquiry. Acknowledging and addressing racial disparities is crucial for a more equitable and just society. I trust that Kinki Hairdressers Leiden will take appropriate measures to tackle this issue and ensure that all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their race or ethnicity.

I've been alive for 22 years and this was the best haircut I've ever gotten. It's completely what you ask for, and it's done with such care. I even came back a few days later and they fixed a long strand free of charge. Love this place and love all the girls here ♡

Customer service is not good at all. I've visited this salon 3 times and every time I'm not been seen on time. Last time I was asked if I wanted to go for a, walk /coffee and come back in 45 minutes. I was patient and agreed. I hoped it was a once off but sadly not. This time I waited for 25 minutes after I arrived for my appointment. No one apologised for being late. Only the junior asked if I wanted a drink. So after waiting with no communication from any of the staff I left. I think this business needs to manage its bookings a lot better and look at it's customer service.
